Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed, has revealed that he endured seven restless nights before the Supreme Court upheld his 2023 election victory, attributing his anxiety to political opponents who allegedly reported him to President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking passionately to supporters at the Government House in Bauchi, Mohammed shared the fear he experienced leading up to the apex court ruling.

He disclosed that past state leaders, in a bid to thwart his stay in office, fed misinformation to President Tinubu and Deputy President Kashim Shettima, painting him as a potential headache for their administration due to his opposition party affiliation.

The Supreme Court’s affirmation of Mohammed’s election victory on Friday marked a relief moment for the Bauchi Governor.

In his remarks on the victory, Mohammed pointed out, My sleepless night was caused by a clique of former leaders of the state who concocted different lies against my person at the Presidency in order to steal my mandate,” Leadership quoted the governor to have said.

He continued, shedding light on the orchestrated attempts to create discord with Vice President Kashim Shettima and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to him, these opponents aimed to convince the presidency that he would be a problem if allowed to remain as governor.

Despite being a member of the opposition party, Mohammed acknowledged being in President Tinubu’s good graces and thanked him for the administration’s support in Bauchi State.

The governor expressed his opponents’ jealousy, emphasizing that he achieved more for the state despite receiving less funding than they did during their governance.

Looking ahead, Mohammed promised an even more impactful second term and reassured the people of Bauchi State of his commitment to upholding the legacy built by his ancestors, prominent traditional rulers in the state.

“We will continue to give our best in service to humanity,” he declared.
