The Supreme Court, in a decisive ruling, has upheld the election victory of Abdullahi Sule as the governor of Nasarawa State.
The initial decision by the state election petition tribunal had nullified Sule’s win, declaring David Ombugadu, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, as the victor in the March 18, 2023 election.
However, the appellate court reinstated Sule, asserting that the tribunal had erred by relying on the evidence of eight PDP witnesses whose statements were not presented alongside the petition.
Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, delivering the lead judgment, affirmed that the appeal lacked merit.
