In the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s verdict affirming the election of Governor Abdullahi Sule in the March 18, 2023, Nasarawa State election, protests have erupted in Lafia, the state capital.

The Lafia-Jos road has been effectively blocked by demonstrators who have set bonfires to impede travelers and disrupt normal road use.

Motorists are compelled to seek alternative routes as the situation unfolds.

At the scene of the protest, Daily Trust  observed the intensity of the unrest, with shops and business centers shutting down in response to the escalating tensions.

Mallam Dogo Audu, an automobile mechanic, expressed concerns and urged the deployment of additional security operatives to restore calm and prevent further escalation.

The unfolding events highlight the palpable unrest and discontent within the community following the Supreme Court’s decisive ruling.
