Stanley Nwabili, the current starting goalkeeper for the Super Eagles in the ongoing AFCON tournament, is eager to showcase his full potential, revealing he believes Nigerians have yet to witness his best performance.

Speaking at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium, Nwabili expressed his hunger to make an impact, acknowledging the abundance of talented players within Africa.

Despite the competition, his immediate focus remains on the crucial match against Guinea-Bissau, emphasizing its must-win status for Nigeria.

While recognizing the pressure on the Super Eagles, Nwabili remains grounded about their journey to potential glory, stating, “Winning the cup is step by step, so I don’t know.”

Attributing the team’s recent success to the coach’s unwavering faith, Nwabili highlighted the importance of confidence in the squad, making them intentional on the field.

Addressing the competition for the goalkeeper position, especially with Francis Uzoho in the mix, Nwabili handled the topic gracefully, stating, “They chose me to play, so I don’t know if any other person had confidence issues.” He acknowledged Uzoho’s skills, emphasizing their positive collaboration despite media scrutiny.

Defending Uzoho against pre-tournament criticism, Nwabili asserted, “The bad press he was getting before the tournament was unfair. He deserves better.”
