The Nigeria Police Force in Rivers State has confirmed the arrest of a Superintendent of Police, known only as Emmanuel, attached to the Bori Police Area Command in Khana Local Council.

The Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, ordered the officer’s detention at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Port Harcourt for the alleged defilement of a 13-year-old girl.

The survivor’s relative, identified as Love, disclosed that the teenager went out on Friday, January 12, but failed to return that day.

Upon returning on Saturday, January 13, the girl revealed that she had been confined and sexually assaulted by a police officer in his office at Bori Area Command until dawn.

The survivor alleged that the police officer threatened to shoot her if she raised an alarm.

Love, upon learning of the incident, examined the girl and found evidence of violation.

Reporting the matter to the Bori Police Division, the girl identified the culprit, leading to further investigation.

The investigating police officer (IPO) accompanied the survivor to the hospital, where a medical check confirmed the rupture of the girl’s hymen and injuries in her private parts. The shocking allegation raises concerns over the conduct of law enforcement officers within the state.
