In a heartwarming celebration of love and unity, Kebbi State played host to a grand mass wedding, where more than 300 divorcees, widows, and indigents embraced the bonds of matrimony.

This significant event, held at the Abdullahi Fodio palace in Gwandu Emirate, Birnin Kebbi, was orchestrated by the Nafisa Nasir Development Foundation, an initiative spearheaded by Hajia Nafisa Nasir Idris, the governor’s wife.

Governor Nasir Idris, symbolizing the state’s commitment to the ceremony, graced the event, urging the newlyweds to cultivate enduring friendships and be pillars of support for each other.

Represented by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman-Ankwe, the governor announced visionary plans for recurrent mass weddings, aiming to unite less privileged individuals in the sacred institution of marriage.

Demonstrating a tangible commitment to this initiative, the administration earmarked a substantial dowry of N21 million for the 300 brides, hailing from the state’s 21 local government areas.

Each bride received a dowry of N70,000, symbolizing not only the state’s generosity but also the embodiment of a collective commitment to fostering love and companionship among its citizens.
