Residents of Abuja, in a brazen act of desperation for survival, have descended upon a warehouse belonging to the National Emergency Management Agency of Nigeria (NEMA) in the heart of the Federal Capital Territory, triggering scenes of chaos and plunder.
Located in the Karimo, Phase 3 Region of Abuja, the warehouse fell victim to a ruthless raid on Sunday morning, as hungry citizens seized the opportunity to seize vital food supplies and other provisions, Vanguard reports.
As the looting frenzy unfolded, law enforcement authorities in Abuja swiftly mobilized to quell the unrest, dispatching police units to restore order to the embattled area.
Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, confirmed the alarming incident, conceding that while the situation initially spiraled out of control, swift intervention by law enforcement has since contained the turmoil.
“The situation is now under control,” Adeh assured, as authorities worked tirelessly to contain the fallout from this brazen act of lawlessness amidst the backdrop of mounting hardship and desperation among the populace.
