A glitch in the server at Osun State University (UNIOSUN) has disrupted a crucial teachers’ recruitment test, affecting the ongoing process to employ new educators for public primary and secondary schools in the southwestern state.
Scheduled to take place across 13 centres in Osun on Wednesday, the recruitment test encountered significant hitches, particularly in Osogbo and Ikire towns, where the assessment was abruptly disrupted.
According to Ademola Adesoji, the UNIOSUN PRO, the disruption was as a result of a suspected hacking attempt on the university’s servers, necessitating the rescheduling of exams in the affected centres.
“The management of Osun State University has disclosed that its server was hacked overnight by unknown criminals attempting to disrupt the teachers’ recruitment test,” the statement reads.
He attributed the delay to the malicious actions of hackers who targeted the university’s core software and question bank, causing a setback in the examination schedule.
Despite the challenges, Adesoji affirmed the university’s commitment to ensuring the integrity of the recruitment process, emphasizing that efforts to safeguard against further disruptions were underway.
He further assured that the recruitment test would proceed as planned in most centres, with measures in place to address the technical issues encountered.
While expressing relief that the hacking attempts did not derail the recruitment process entirely, Adesoji underscored the university’s determination to overcome the obstacles and fulfill its mandate in support of the Osun State government’s objectives.
The statement issued by UNIOSUN highlighted the resilience displayed in overcoming the technical challenges and reaffirmed the institution’s resolve to conduct the recruitment test with utmost diligence and fairness.
Despite the setbacks experienced in Osogbo and Ikire, UNIOSUN remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring a seamless and transparent recruitment process for prospective teachers in Osun State.
