
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Tuesday the deaths of four soldiers from the 401st Armored Brigade’s 52nd Battalion following an attack on a military encampment near Kafr Jabalia, on the outskirts of Gaza City.
The soldiers killed in the incident were identified as Lt. Matan Abramovitz, 21, from Ganei Tikva; Staff Sgt. Uri Lamed, 20, from Tel Mond; Sgt. Amit Arye Regev, 19, from Modiin; and Sgt. Gadi Cotal, 20, from Kibbutz Afikim.
According to initial reports, armed assailants approached a tank positioned at the entrance to the encampment and opened fire at its commander, who was exposed outside the hatch. The attackers then hurled an explosive device inside the tank, resulting in the deaths of the four crew members.
One additional soldier, belonging to the Nahal Infantry Brigade’s 50th Battalion, sustained moderate injuries during the incident and was evacuated for medical treatment.
The attack marks one of the deadliest on Israeli forces in recent weeks, highlighting the continuing intensity of ground operations around Gaza City. The IDF stated that it is investigating the circumstances of the assault while continuing its security operations in the area.
