The Convener of the Young Leaders Initiative, Ufuoma Idiasirue, has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to offer its governorship ticket in Abia State to Mascot Uzor Kalu, describing him as a youth-friendly leader who represents the aspirations of young people.
Speaking during a press briefing, Idiasirue encouraged Kalu not to relent in his pursuit of the governorship race, stressing that his emergence would inspire more young Nigerians to believe in political participation and leadership.
According to him, the Young Leaders Initiative, a network of aspiring leaders across the country believes that Abia needs a youthful and visionary governor who can champion development, inclusiveness, and innovation.
The group also called on other young Nigerians to actively engage in politics ahead of the 2027 general elections, noting that youths should no longer see themselves merely as “leaders of tomorrow,” but as “leaders of now.”
In addition, Idiasirue announced that the Young Leaders Initiative would host a Young Leadership Conference in February or March next year to discuss youth participation, governance, and leadership opportunities across Nigeria.
