The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has confirmed heightened security across the state following protests by members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria.
The Commissioner told Arewa PUNCH that the Shiite group did not notify the police of their planned demonstrations.
However, the Police intelligence unit discovered the planned protests and quickly deployed its personnel to the various protests locations.
He added, “Our men escorted them to ensure the peaceful take-up of the protests and to avoid any unrest. You know it was evening, people are fasting.”
