Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has announced that the 2027 presidential election will mark his final attempt at the nation’s top office.
Atiku, a serial contestant that has been chasing the presidency since 1992, made the declaration during an interview on Prime Time on Arise Television Prime Time on Wednesday.
“The 2027 election will be my last outing”, he said.
Responding to concerns about his repeated bids and advancing age, the former Vice President argued that Nigeria’s core challenge remains ineffective leadership.
He maintained that his experience positions him as both a bridge between the country’s past and a guide to its future.
Atiku also stressed the need to groom a new generation of leaders, recommending structured leadership training for young Nigerians as a pathway to national progress.
