Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has unveiled a sweeping plan to invest $110 billion over the next decade to establish a fully independent domestic arms industry, signaling a strategic shift toward defense self-reliance.

Netanyahu said the initiative, approved at 350 billion shekels, aims to reduce Israel’s dependence on foreign partners even close allies while strengthening its military edge in future conflicts. He emphasized that Israeli defense experts are already working on advanced weapons systems designed to secure the country’s superiority on evolving battlefields.

“We want to reduce our dependence on any party, even on friends,” Netanyahu stated, adding that the country’s “finest minds” are driving innovation in next-generation military technology.

The announcement comes amid growing geopolitical tensions and increased scrutiny over global arms supply chains, prompting Israel to prioritize domestic production and long-term strategic autonomy.
