Dr. Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and Director of Finance at the Hadejia-Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, has projected strong electoral support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu across Northern Nigeria in the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Monday in Kano, Kwankwaso downplayed the wave of criticism trailing the current administration, describing it as routine political maneuvering typical of election seasons. He insisted that opposition campaigns and what he termed coordinated propaganda would not erode the president’s growing acceptance in the region.

“I can assure you, I was part of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration. We witnessed how claims of insecurity and ethnic issues were used during elections,” he explained.

Kwankwaso argued that many of the North’s enduring challenges predate the Tinubu administration, noting that successive leaders had struggled to fully address them.

“It is clear that even so-called Northern leaders who served for many years could not tackle these problems like President Tinubu is doing now,” he added.

While acknowledging persistent security concerns in the North-West, particularly during the tenure of late President Muhammadu Buhari, he maintained that the current government is making measurable progress.

He further highlighted ongoing federal infrastructure projects, including rail and road developments, as evidence of Tinubu’s commitment to the region’s growth, expressing confidence that such efforts will translate into significant voter support in 2027.
