The lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has pledged to facilitate the installation of free Wi-Fi in strategic locations across her constituency as part of efforts to boost youth employment and digital innovation.

The senator made the announcement in a Facebook post on Monday following her visit to Idah Local Government Area in Kogi East, where she joined leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party to receive new defectors into the party.

Her promise comes amid increasing attention on digital infrastructure as a catalyst for economic growth, particularly in underserved communities where access to affordable internet remains limited.

According to the senator, the initiative was inspired by a suggestion from one of the new defectors, identified as Idris HK, who proposed deploying free internet services across parts of Kogi East to support content creators and young entrepreneurs.

She wrote, “I stood there loving the idea as a necessity to facilitating job creation for our youths. Whilst he spoke, he mentioned installing free Wi-Fi in strategic locations across the Eastern District to support content creators’ internet access.

“So, in the spirit of collaboration and ‘Kogi Central no dey take last’, here’s me pledging to do the same for our beloved Kogi Central.”

Akpoti-Uduaghan said the initiative would be replicated in Kogi Central, stressing the need to leverage digital access to drive job creation and innovation among young people.
