The Federal Government has approved 150 as the minimum admission cut-off mark for both public and private universities across Nigeria.
The decision was announced on Monday by the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, during the ongoing 2026 admission policy meeting of education stakeholders organised by Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board in Abuja.
In another major development, the government also approved 150 as the minimum admission cut-off mark for colleges of nursing nationwide.
The announcement is expected to trigger widespread reactions among candidates, parents, and stakeholders in the education sector, especially as admission processes for the 2026 academic session gather momentum.
The policy meeting, convened by JAMB, is aimed at setting admission guidelines and standards for tertiary institutions across the country.
More details are expected to emerge from the meeting.
