Senator Ede Dafinone has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary for Delta Central, defeating former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege by a wide margin.
According to official results released by the APC National Assembly Primary Committee, Dafinone secured 116,252 votes, while Omo-Agege polled 3,643 votes across the eight local government areas in the district.
The outcome represents a significant political upset, with Dafinone recording a landslide victory over the former deputy senate president, who remains a prominent figure in Delta State politics. The result also underscores strong grassroots backing for Dafinone as he seeks re-election ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The primary election results were collated by Hon. Dr. Okiemute E. Benjamin, who served as the Collation Officer, and officially announced by Barr. Nusa Amagbor, Secretary of the APC National Assembly Primary Committee, with support from committee member Abimbola Samuel Dart.
The development is expected to reshape political alignments within the APC in Delta State as attention shifts toward the general elections.
