Popular actor-turned-politician and Lagos lawmaker, Desmond Elliot, has officially withdrawn from the State House of Assembly race under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Elliot announced his withdrawal in a video circulating on social media on Wednesday, alleging intimidation and obstruction during the party’s primary process.
The Surulere I representative in the Lagos State House of Assembly expressed frustration over what he described as efforts to stop him and his supporters from participating in the exercise.
“My name is Demond Elliot. In all zones, they have been intimidating and stopping us. I want to officially announce my withdrawal from this particular race. This is my ward, if you go outside, those are my people outside, and they have not been allowed so I am officially announcing my withdrawal from this race. I’m not doing again. Good luck, thank you.”
Desmond Elliot had been seeking to represent Surulere Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the APC platform.
His withdrawal has sparked reactions among party supporters and political observers, with many linking the development to rising tensions and internal power struggles surrounding the APC primaries in Lagos State.
