Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has announced the donation of vehicles to female leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in states currently controlled by opposition parties.

The announcement was made during the inauguration of the Tinubu Torchbearers (TTB), a pro-Tinubu support group, held at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja.

The beneficiaries are APC women leaders from Abia, Anambra, Bauchi, Osun, and Oyo states.

Speaking at the event, the First Lady disclosed that the vehicles would be delivered before the end of the week and clarified that the cars were personal gifts to the beneficiaries, not party property.

“To all our women leaders in states where we do not have APC governors but have committed party members, your vehicles will be ready before the end of the week,” Oluremi said.

“The vehicles are your personal vehicles. You are not giving them to the party. Register them in your names and use them for the service of the party and your communities.”

Oluremi also urged APC governors across the country to support women leaders in their respective states with vehicles and other forms of assistance.

According to her, empowering women remains a key part of the APC’s vision for inclusive governance, stressing that women play critical roles in grassroots mobilisation and strengthening the party structure.

“I urge our governors to buy vehicles for their women leaders. We are not playing politics like before. We are politicians, and people should see the value in us,” she added.

The First Lady further described the APC as a party committed to democratic engagement and peaceful politics, noting that recent party primaries reflected the party’s dedication to internal democracy.

She also charged members of the Tinubu Torchbearers to actively promote the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and properly communicate government policies ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Also speaking at the event, APC National Women Leader, Mary Alile-Idele, called on women across the country to intensify grassroots mobilisation in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration.

Alile-Idele disclosed that the Tinubu Torchbearers had already established structures across all 774 local government areas in Nigeria to promote government programmes and encourage citizen participation.

She also commended the administration’s reforms and the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative, noting that the programmes have positively impacted women, youths, persons living with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups through empowerment and social intervention schemes.
