The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has approved the sum of ₦801,674,399.75 for the construction of a floodwater diversion channel at Ezioko, Oko-Nanka, in Orumba North Local Government Area of the state.
The approval was granted during the second ANSEC meeting held at the Light House, Awka, as part of efforts by the state government to tackle flooding and protect vulnerable communities from erosion-related damage.
According to a press statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Value Reorientation, the contract was awarded to Lebtech Construction Ltd. However, the statement did not disclose the project’s expected completion timeline.
The floodwater diversion channel is expected to improve drainage and reduce the impact of seasonal flooding in the affected area.
