The Abia State House of Assembly has called for a thorough investigation and swift justice over the killing of Miss Chinwendu Achumba, a 21-year-old nursing student from Obingwa Local Government Area.
The call followed a motion presented during plenary by the member representing Aba Central State Constituency, Hon. Ucheonye Stephen. He informed the House that Achumba, a Post-Basic Nursing student of Our Lady of Mercy College of Nursing Sciences, was found dead at her off-campus residence in Umuadara Umulogho, Imo State, on May 2, 2026.
Lawmakers expressed concern over the tragic incident and urged relevant security agencies to ensure that those responsible are identified, arrested and prosecuted.
The Assembly also considered urgent measures to address environmental and housing challenges affecting residents across Abia State.
