The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, says the welfare of officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army remains a central pillar of his command philosophy to boost morale, combat readiness and administrative efficiency of the Personnel

Lieutenant General Shaibu made the remark at the commissioning of a newly constructed 60-flat Officers Transit Accommodation at 6 Division Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt Barracks, Rivers State.

The Army Chief who was represented by the Director General, Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre, Major General Tariweriye Ebiowei-Gagariga commended the General Officer Commanding GOC 6 Division for the initiative, and lauded Tantita Security Services for partnering to build the accommodation and for its role in protecting critical national assets, and fighting oil theft and pipeline vandalism.

Lieutenant General Shaibu charged officers who will occupy the facility to maintain discipline and cleanliness, and directed 6 Division to implement a robust facility management plan to ensure proper maintenance of the edifice for many years.

“Welfare remains a central pillar of my Command Philosophy. A soldier who is properly accommodated is better focused, better motivated, and better prepared for operational tasks. This transit accommodation addresses a critical gap for officers on posting and operational deployment within 6 Division Area of Responsibility.“Projects like this also strengthen civil-military relations and contribute tangibly to the operational effectiveness of our troops”.

“Once again, I express the appreciation of the Nigerian Army to the management of Tantita Security Services for this intervention. As we commission this facility today, let it stand as a symbol of partnership, commitment to welfare, and our shared resolve to secure Nigeria” the COAS expressed.

Earlier in his address of welcome, the GOC 6 Division, Major General Emmanuel Eric-Emekah, said the project was initiated to address accommodation shortages for troops and their families, in line with the command philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff.

Major General Eric-Emekah said the project was completed within seven months through collaboration with Tantita Security Services and timely funding by Nigerian Army.

The representative of Tantita Security Services, General Manager Security, retired Brigadier General Efe Felix-Edafioghor, commended the Nigerian Army for safeguarding the nation and assured continued partnership with the Army.
