Residents of Ohuhu in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State have been thrown into panic following the suspected abduction of two farmers by unidentified gunmen.
The incident reportedly occurred in a farming area near Umuawa Alaocha when the victims, said to be from Umuezeroala Community, were working on their farmland close to Akpahia Community.
According to community sources, armed men suspected to be kidnappers stormed the area and forcefully whisked away the farmers before fleeing into the surrounding forest.
The development has triggered anxiety among residents and prompted a large-scale search operation involving community members and local security groups.
The incident has also heightened concerns over security in the area, with residents calling for urgent intervention by security agencies to secure the victims’ release and prevent further attacks.
As of the time of filing this report, efforts were ongoing to locate the abducted farmers, while authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
