A major tragedy was narrowly avoided after a trailer reportedly lost control and fell from the New Parts Flyover in Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Eyewitnesses said the trailer crashed from the flyover onto the lower road, sparking panic among motorists and commuters in the busy commercial area. Passengers in a shuttle bus reportedly escaped moments before the trailer landed near the vehicle.
Fortunately, no casualties were recorded as of the time of filing this report.
The incident has renewed concerns over compliance with government directives restricting heavy-duty vehicles from using the flyover. The Anambra State Government had previously instructed trucks and other heavy vehicles to use the lower road for safety reasons.
Residents described the development as a miraculous escape and called for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations to prevent future occurrences.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the cause of the accident.
