Former Imo State Deputy Governor and PDP senatorial hopeful, Eze Madumere, has called on Nigerians to embrace peaceful coexistence, unity, and democratic values as the foundation for national development.
Speaking in Owerri during the 2026 Democracy Day celebration, Madumere described democracy as the surest path to sustainable socio-economic growth, urging citizens to remain committed to the ideals of justice, accountability, transparency, and good governance.
The former deputy governor stressed that Nigeria’s democratic journey can only yield greater dividends through responsible leadership, economic reforms, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and improved security. He called on leaders at all levels to place the interests of the people above personal and political considerations.
Madumere also encouraged Nigerians not to lose faith in the country’s future, emphasizing the need for active participation in the democratic process to build a more prosperous and united nation.
Looking ahead to future elections, the Imo East Senatorial aspirant reaffirmed his commitment to championing policies that promote development, create opportunities for youths and women, and strengthen the local economy. He urged the people of Owerri Zone and Imo State to embrace what he described as a “Journey of Grace” towards greater political and economic advancement.
He concluded by wishing Nigerians a peaceful and memorable Democracy Day celebration while calling for renewed commitment to democratic principles and national unity.
