The Member representing Ukwa East/West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chris Nkwonta, has condemned the killing of Comrade Uche Chinye, a young graduate and businessman from Umukalu Community in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State.
Chinye was reportedly shot dead by unknown gunmen along the Umuadienwe–Owo-Ala Road in the early hours of Sunday, June 14, 2026.
Describing the incident as heartbreaking and barbaric, Nkwonta said the deceased’s death was a huge loss to his family and the entire Ukwa Nation, noting that he had a promising future.
The lawmaker called on the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to carry out a thorough investigation, apprehend those responsible, and ensure they are brought to justice.
He also expressed concern over rising insecurity in parts of the area, urging stronger security measures to protect lives and property, while extending condolences to the bereaved family and community.
