Youths in Ohafia, Abia State, reportedly rescued two young girls who were allegedly kidnapped by armed men demanding a ₦20 million ransom.

According to local accounts, the suspects had demanded ₦10 million for each victim before community youths mobilised and launched a search operation.

The youths were said to have tracked down the location, rescued the victims from the bush, and apprehended one of the suspected kidnappers, who was handed over for further action.

The rescued girls were brought back safely to their community, sparking relief among residents.

The incident has drawn attention to rising security concerns in parts of the state and the role of community response in addressing kidnapping cases.

Authorities are expected to continue investigations into the incident.
