The Anambra State Pilgrimage Welfare Board has partnered with the State Ministry of Information to strengthen public awareness and improve communication on pilgrimage activities in the state.

The collaboration was announced during a courtesy visit led by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Pilgrimage, Barr. Odira Ezeh, to the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, in Awka.

Ezeh said the engagement was aimed at aligning the Pilgrims Office with the state’s communication strategy to better inform Ndi Anambra about pilgrimage programmes, opportunities, and related benefits under the Soludo administration.

He noted that the state government, under Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has continued to reposition the pilgrimage sector to promote faith, unity, civic responsibility, and human development, while also exploring its economic and social benefits.

According to him, ongoing initiatives include pilgrimage exchange programmes designed to increase participation, enhance youth involvement, and boost internally generated revenue.

In his response, Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, described pilgrimage as an important spiritual exercise that should be properly understood beyond tourism, emphasizing reflection, moral values, and personal transformation.

He also highlighted key achievements of the Soludo administration in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and social welfare, noting that the Information Ministry will support the Pilgrimage Board through media campaigns and enlightenment programmes.

The partnership is expected to improve public engagement, increase awareness of pilgrimage activities, and align the sector with the state’s broader development vision of building a livable and prosperous Anambra State.
