The Anambra State Police Command has provided financial assistance for the urgent medical treatment of a 10-year-old boy allegedly subjected to severe abuse by his guardian in Isiowulu, Awada, Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area.

The support was provided through operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, after authorities assessed the victim’s condition and the extent of his injuries.

Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the intervention reflects the Command’s commitment to protecting vulnerable members of society, particularly children, and ensuring victims of abuse receive necessary care and support.

He disclosed that investigations into the incident have been intensified, with the Police determined to ensure that anyone found responsible faces prosecution in accordance with the law.

Ikenga reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to enforce laws against child abuse, neglect, exploitation, and all forms of violence against children.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, also assured residents of continued collaboration with government agencies, child protection organisations, and community stakeholders to safeguard the rights, welfare, and safety of children across Anambra State.

The Command reiterated its commitment to promoting justice, compassion, and the protection of human rights.
