Haiti have become the first nation to be eliminated from the 2026 FIFA World Cup after suffering consecutive defeats in Group C, ending their hopes of progressing to the knockout stages.

The Caribbean side’s exit was confirmed following a 3-0 defeat to Brazil, which left Haiti without a point from their opening two matches of the tournament. Earlier, Haiti had fallen 1-0 to Scotland in their World Cup opener.

With other results in the group going against them, Haiti can no longer finish in the qualification places, making them the first team officially knocked out of the expanded 48-team tournament.

Despite the disappointment, Haiti’s qualification for the World Cup was celebrated as a significant achievement for the nation, marking a historic appearance on football’s biggest stage. The team will now look to end their campaign on a positive note in their final group match.

The elimination serves as an early reminder of the fierce competition at the World Cup, where even reaching the tournament remains a major accomplishment for many emerging football nations.
