A fresh wave of resignations has rocked the Ebonyi State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), as several senior party officials announced their departure amid growing internal disagreements.

Among those who resigned are the Deputy Chairman, Comrade Okey Idenyi; Secretary, Barrister Chinedu Adum; Welfare Officer, Cyril Ajah; Youth Leader, Anthony Nwofe; and other members of the state executive committee.

Speaking in Abakaliki, the former officials cited dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership, alleged financial irregularities and concerns over the conduct of recent primary elections as reasons for their exit.

Comrade Idenyi alleged that founding members who played key roles in establishing the party in Ebonyi had been sidelined, while newer entrants had taken control of the party structure. He also questioned the management of funds generated from nomination forms and participation fees paid by aspirants.

Former Secretary Chinedu Adum accused the party leadership of failing to address members’ grievances and claimed that several loyal members were denied fair opportunities to contest elective positions despite their contributions to the party.

Also speaking, Cyril Ajah said recent developments within the party no longer aligned with his values and principles, prompting his decision to withdraw his membership and support.

The mass resignation is seen as a major setback for the NDC in Ebonyi State and could pose significant challenges for the party’s preparations ahead of future elections.
