The Bishop of the Anglican Communion, Enugu Diocese, Rt. Rev. Prof. Samuel Ike, has urged President Bola Tinubu to accelerate the rehabilitation of the Eastern rail line, describing the project as vital to the economic growth of the Southeast.
Speaking during the Third Session of the 19th Synod of the Enugu Diocese at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Ogbete, Bishop Ike said reviving the Port Harcourt–Maiduguri rail corridor would ease transportation challenges, boost commerce, and improve connectivity across the region.
He noted that despite repeated promises by successive administrations, the long-awaited rail project is yet to be fully realised, calling on the Federal Government to prioritise its completion for the benefit of Nigerians.
