The Uruguayan Football Federation has reportedly cancelled the national team’s private charter flight following Uruguay’s elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with players instead expected to return home on a regular commercial flight.

The decision comes after Uruguay’s disappointing World Cup campaign ended in the group stage, bringing an early conclusion to Marcelo Bielsa’s side’s tournament. According to reports, the federation opted to cancel the team’s planned private jet, with the entire squad now set to travel back to Uruguay on a commercial airline.

The move has sparked discussion among football fans, with many viewing it as a cost-cutting measure following the team’s unexpected exit. Uruguay endured a difficult tournament that was also marked by travel disruptions earlier in the competition, when paperwork issues delayed the team’s arrival ahead of their opening match.
