The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to improve livestock infrastructures across the country to make the sector more lucrative for Business investment.
The Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Maiha stated this at the commissioning of the L-PRES Model Veterinary Hospital, Aviele in Etsakwo West Local Government Area of Edo State.
The Minister explained that since the assumption of the current administration , the Livestock sector has been reposition to tackle raising unemployment and Poverty in line with the renewed hope agenda of President Tinubu.
Alhaji Maiha who called on Nigerians to engage in livestock farming due to its lucrative nature said the L-PRES Model Veterinary Hospital Aviele has the state of the art facilities to help address Health challenges facing livestocks businesses in the area.
” When we took over,as a ministry a year and few Months ago, we commenced the process of strengthening livestock infrastructures nationwide to reposition it for real investment. Through L-PRES the ministry has built and equipped seven model veterinary Hospitals in Edo,Adamawa, Sokoto Enugu,Niger Ondo,and Borno State and we are still going to build more. An additional fourteen model veterinary Hospitals are at various stages of completion, making it twenty one veterinary Hospitals targeted in every participating State aside other primary health care centres build around the country “.
Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, who was represented by the State Deputy Governor , Mr Denis Idahosa thanked President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Livestock Development For their impacts in Nigeria’s development.
” We are very very grateful of the style of leadership of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu, through his Minister today, we are seeing Model veterinary Hospital, here in Aviele, Edo State.”
National Project Coordinator, Livestock productivity and Resilience Support , L-PRES, a world Bank assisted Project, Dr Sanusi Abubaker expressed optimism that the Hospital will provide livestock producers quality veterinary care.
The Senator representing Edo North Senatorial district, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole appreciated the Federal Government for the development and expressed gratitude to Present Tinubu for the gesture.”
Earlier in a remark, Edo State Commissioner for Livestock Development, Professor Ignatius Omorodion said the Hospital will go along way in serving residents of Edo North.
” The model veterinary Hospital is well equipped with modern technology to attend to Animal health chose. ”
Some residents of Aviele including Alhaji Amedu Rufai, the Chairman, Etsakwo West Cattle market Dealers Association , thanked the world Bank , the Federal and State Government for bringing the project to the area and pledged to save guard it
The newly commissioned Model Veterinary Hospital in Aviele has state of the art equipments, mobile Veterinary Hospital on wheel, pharmacy and a vet diagnostic laboratory among other.
