Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has inaugurated two new commissioners and approved a major cabinet reshuffle as part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery across the state.

The newly sworn-in commissioners are Professor Omari Omaka (SAN), who will oversee the Ministry of Tertiary Education, and Hon. Sylvester Nwite, who takes charge of the Ministry of Environment.

The cabinet reshuffle was announced by the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barr. Ikeuwa Omebe, while briefing journalists after the State Executive Council meeting.

According to Omebe, the governor also inaugurated Njoku Onyekachi Felix as Special Assistant before assigning him the portfolio of Special Assistant on Youth Mobilisation.

As part of the reshuffle, Hon. Chidi Onyia was redeployed from the Ministry of Solid Mineral Development to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, while Mrs. Dr. Ngozi Obichukwu moved from the Ministry of Aviation to the Ministry of Special Projects.

Professor Adjokango was transferred from the Ministry of Market Development to the Ministry of Skill Acquisition, with Hon. Oko Udo appointed to head the Ministry of Market Development.

Similarly, Hon. Chinedu Nkah was redeployed from the Ministry of Water Resources to the Ministry of Solid Mineral Development, while Hon. Richard Idike moved from the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development to the Ministry of Capital City and Urban Development.

Hon. Sunday Elechi Inyima was reassigned from the Ministry of Capital City and Urban Development to the Ministry of Project Monitoring, while Hon. Victor Chukwu Uzoma was transferred from the Ministry of Environment to the Ministry of Water Resources.

Governor Nwifuru directed all affected commissioners to complete the handover process before the close of work on June 30, 2026.

He urged the newly appointed and redeployed officials to justify the confidence reposed in them by consolidating the achievements of his administration under the People’s Charter of Needs agenda.

The governor also congratulated members of the State Executive Council on the successful endorsement rally held on June 15, 2026, in support of President Bola Tinubu, while commending the media for its extensive coverage of the event.

He further charged all members of the cabinet to remain focused, committed and united in delivering quality governance and accelerating the development of Ebonyi State.
