The Ebonyi State Police Command has arraigned three suspects over their alleged involvement in the mob assault of a woman at the International Market in Abakaliki, reaffirming its commitment to ending jungle justice and other forms of unlawful self-help.

The suspects, identified as Nwokedi Charles, Ekwunife Chidubem and Okapala Chiamaka, were charged to court following the conclusion of police investigations into the incident.

According to the Command, the Commissioner of Police, CP Hope Urunwa Okafor, had strongly condemned the attack when it occurred and immediately ordered a thorough, diligent and impartial investigation to ensure that all those responsible were brought to justice.

Following the completion of the investigation, the suspects were formally arraigned before the court for their alleged roles in the incident.

The Police Command reiterated that jungle justice remains a criminal offence and warned members of the public against taking the law into their own hands.

It urged residents to report suspected criminals to law enforcement agencies for proper investigation and prosecution rather than resorting to mob action.

The Command further stressed that anyone found participating in acts of jungle justice or other forms of vigilante violence would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The Ebonyi State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the rights of all citizens and ensuring that justice is served through lawful procedures.
