No fewer than 139 residents of Ogidi in Idemili North Local Government Area have benefited from a free community health outreach organised by the Anambra State AIDS Control Agency in collaboration with the University on the Niger Medical Students’ Association.
The outreach provided free HIV counselling and testing, malaria testing, tuberculosis (TB) screening, health education and referral services to participants requiring further medical care.
According to ANSACA, the exercise was aimed at promoting early detection and treatment of HIV, malaria and TB while encouraging residents to adopt healthy lifestyles and regularly monitor their health status.
The agency, led by its Executive Director, Nkem Okeke, also trained medical students on national HIV testing guidelines, counselling, infection prevention and referral procedures ahead of the outreach to ensure quality healthcare delivery.
ANSACA said the initiative supports the healthcare agenda of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo by expanding access to essential health services and strengthening community-based disease prevention programmes.
