The Jesus Abandoned Charity Organization in Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State, has appealed to governments, churches, corporate organisations and public-spirited individuals for support to sustain and expand its services for vulnerable persons.
Speaking during a tour of the facility, the founder, , said the home currently cares for about 250 inmates living with physical, sensory, intellectual and mental disabilities.
He lamented that despite being registered in Anambra State in 2012 and federally in 2013, the organisation has received little institutional support, relying largely on donations from individuals to meet its growing needs.
According to the priest, the increasing number of abandoned persons with special needs has overstretched the facility, with many children left at the home’s gate and taken in after due clearance from relevant authorities.
He appealed for financial assistance to acquire more land, expand accommodation and provide additional solar-powered water facilities, stressing that the support would help improve the welfare, education and vocational training of the home’s residents.
