Director-General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications,Dr. (Barr.) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has congratulated the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, on his 67th birthday, describing him as a visionary, pragmatic and God-fearing leader whose legacy continues to drive the state’s growth and development.

Oghenesivbe, who served as Executive Assistant on Communications throughout Okowa’s administration, joined Sheriff Oborevwori, the Delta State Government and the people of the state in celebrating the former governor for what he described as years of purposeful leadership, institutional reforms and people-focused governance.

He said Okowa’s administration, which lasted from May 29, 2015, to May 29, 2023, laid a solid foundation for sustainable development through prudent leadership, integrity and a commitment to public service.

According to him, the achievements being recorded under Governor Oborevwori’s administration are a testament to the enduring development framework established by Okowa and further strengthened through the implementation of the MORE Agenda.

The Director-General noted that the former governor’s SMART Agenda, later reinforced by the STRONGER Delta and Finishing Strong initiatives, transformed critical sectors of the state’s economy through strategic investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, security, youth and women empowerment, entrepreneurship and rural development.

He also highlighted Okowa’s contributions to expanding higher education, strengthening technical and vocational training, upgrading healthcare facilities, modernising public institutions and improving road infrastructure across the state.

Oghenesivbe further commended the former governor for introducing widely acclaimed job and wealth creation programmes, including STEP, YAGEP, GEST and RYSA, which empowered thousands of young people with sustainable livelihoods.

He praised Okowa’s leadership style, describing it as inclusive, peaceful and unifying, adding that his administration promoted harmony among the diverse ethnic nationalities in Delta State while fostering political stability throughout his tenure.

The Bureau Director-General also applauded Okowa for overseeing what he described as one of the smoothest democratic transitions in the state’s history with the successful handover of power to Governor Oborevwori on May 29, 2023.

According to him, the former governor’s continued guidance, mentorship and support for the present administration have further strengthened governance and accelerated development across the state.

Describing Okowa as one of Delta State’s most accomplished leaders, Oghenesivbe said his investments in infrastructure, institutional development, human capital and accountable governance will remain enduring landmarks in the state’s political and developmental history.

He prayed for God’s continued protection, sound health, wisdom, strength and long life for the former governor, expressing gratitude for his years of dedicated service to Delta State and Nigeria.

“On behalf of my family and the management and staff of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, I heartily congratulate Your Excellency on your 67th birthday. May Almighty God continue to bless you with good health, greater wisdom, renewed strength and many more years of impactful service to humanity,” he said.
