The Labour Party (LP) candidate for the Bende Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, has received a series of endorsements from political stakeholders and community leaders as his campaign gathers momentum.
Dr. Anyaso, the Chief Executive Officer of Caades Group, is seeking to unseat the incumbent member representing Bende Federal Constituency and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu.
Running under the campaign slogan “O Ga Dika Oluebube,” the LP candidate has intensified grassroots consultations and cross-party engagements across the constituency.
One of the major highlights of his campaign was the endorsement by elders and youths of his ancestral community, Umu Oringwo Kindred of Ibina Ukwu in Igbere, who formally adopted and offered prayers for his candidacy.
Reacting to the development, Anyaso described the endorsement from his community as one of the most significant moments of his political journey.
As part of efforts to broaden his support base, the Labour Party candidate also met with prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including the Chairman of the National Park Service Governing Board, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu, who commended his humanitarian contributions to Bende and wished him success.
Anyaso also visited former Abia State lawmaker, Chukwudi Apugo, where he appealed for support for both his candidacy and the Labour Party-led administration of Governor Alex Otti.
During the meeting, Apugo expressed dissatisfaction with the leadership of the APC in Abia State, stating that he had been sidelined and would not support any APC candidate for the National Assembly in the 2027 elections.
In another development, Ugochukwu Nwankwo, a former Personal Assistant to the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu, announced his resignation from the position and publicly declared support for Dr. Anyaso, citing the need to avoid a conflict of interest.
Political observers say the growing support from community leaders, former public office holders and stakeholders across party lines could reshape the contest for the Bende Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
