The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has called on Nigerians, particularly residents of the South-East, to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, citing the administration’s ongoing investment in critical road infrastructure across the region.

Umahi made the appeal while inspecting a section of the ongoing Ebonyi, Benue, Kogi, Nasarawa, Abuja Superhighway in Ebonyi State.

The minister commended the pace and quality of work on the project, expressing confidence that the completed superhighway would significantly improve transportation, strengthen regional connectivity and stimulate economic growth.

According to him, the road project will reduce travel time between the South-East, South-South and the Federal Capital Territory, enabling motorists to travel to Abuja in about six hours upon completion.

He described President Tinubu as a leader committed to equitable national development and urged Nigerians to support the administration to ensure the completion of ongoing infrastructure projects across the country.

Umahi also praised the contractors handling the project for maintaining high construction standards and keeping to schedule despite the scale of the work.

Also speaking, the Acting Federal Controller of Works in Ebonyi State, Maxwell Oko, said the inspected portion is located at kilometre 118 of Section One of the superhighway, which will link Ebonyi, Benue, Kogi, Nasarawa states and the Federal Capital Territory.

He explained that Section Two of the project begins immediately after the inspected point and extends for about 260 kilometres.

Oko commended the Federal Government for prioritising road infrastructure, noting that the investment would enhance mobility, facilitate trade and contribute to Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
