Spain are through to the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a commanding 2-0 victory over France in Tuesday night’s semi-final clash at Arlington, Texas.

La Roja produced another clinical display to end France’s title hopes, with Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro finding the net to seal a place in Sunday’s showpiece.

Oyarzabal fired Spain ahead from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute after French defender Lucas Digne brought down teenage sensation Lamine Yamal inside the box. Referee Ivan Barton pointed to the spot, and the Spanish forward calmly converted his fifth goal of the tournament.

The goal marked the first time either Spain or France had fallen behind in their 2026 World Cup campaign.

Spain tightened their grip on the contest in the 58th minute when Pedro Porro capped a brilliant team move orchestrated by Dani Olmo, leaving France with an uphill task.

Despite pushing for a response, the French failed to break down Spain’s disciplined defence as Luis de la Fuente’s side comfortably saw out the victory.

The triumph sends Spain into Sunday’s World Cup final, where they will face either England or Argentina, who meet in Wednesday’s second semi-final.

France, meanwhile, saw their bid for a third consecutive FIFA World Cup final appearance come to a disappointing end as Spain marched into the biggest game of the tournament.
