Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has described the Geometric Power Project in Aba as a landmark investment driving industrialisation, economic growth and energy stability across the state.

Governor Otti made the remarks during the 70th birthday celebration of the Chairman and Founder of Geometric Power Limited and former Minister of Power, Professor Barth Nnaji, where he commended the renowned engineer for his resilience and commitment to the successful delivery of the Aba Integrated Power Project.

The governor said the availability of stable electricity through the Geometric Power Project has transformed Aba’s business environment and provided the confidence for the state government to introduce electric buses as part of its clean transportation initiative.

According to him, a second batch of electric buses is expected to arrive within the next week, further advancing the state’s drive towards sustainable transportation.

Governor Otti praised Professor Nnaji’s perseverance, describing him as an innovative leader whose determination kept the project alive despite decades of challenges. He urged Nigerians to emulate his resilience, vision and unwavering commitment to national development.

The governor also lauded Professor Nnaji’s academic achievements, noting that his early studies in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics demonstrated remarkable foresight long before the technologies gained global prominence.

In his response, Professor Nnaji expressed gratitude to individuals and institutions that contributed to the success of the Geometric Power Project. He gave special recognition to Governor Alex Otti and the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, for their support in securing financing for the project and facilitating the conversion of its loan from dollars to naira.

The event celebrated Professor Nnaji’s contributions to Nigeria’s power sector and highlighted the growing impact of the Geometric Power Project on Abia State’s economic transformation.
