Anambra State is set for a major industrial boost as the Chairman of Zobis Cable Industries Limited, Chief John Ezeobi, presented plans for a proposed industrial city to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, aimed at expanding the state’s manufacturing capacity and driving economic growth.
The proposed industrial city, to be located across Okoti, Odekpe and Ogbaru communities in Ogbaru Local Government Area, is designed as a world-class industrial and commercial hub that will accommodate more than 15 manufacturing and business facilities.
Presenting the project at the Government House, Awka, Chief Ezeobi said the development is expected to host cable manufacturing plants, copper production facilities, switchgear and PVC factories, research and development centres, residential quarters and integrated logistics infrastructure.
He explained that the initiative aligns with Nigeria’s industrialisation agenda by promoting local production, reducing dependence on imported goods and creating sustainable employment opportunities for thousands of Nigerians.
According to him, the industrial city will occupy approximately 94 hectares of land with a built-up area exceeding 800,000 square metres and is expected to generate over 15,000 direct jobs in its first phase.
Chief Ezeobi added that construction of the project is scheduled to run from May 2025 to December 2028.
He noted that beyond manufacturing, the industrial city will serve as a hub for innovation, research, technology transfer and industrial collaboration, while supporting Governor Soludo’s vision of transforming Anambra into a leading destination for investment and industrial development.
The proposed project underscores growing private sector confidence in Anambra State and reinforces the partnership between the state government and investors in promoting economic diversification, infrastructure development and large-scale industrialisation.
