The Anambra State Police Command has celebrated the promotion of its substantive Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG).

Also elevated was the immediate past Commissioner of Police in the state, AIG Nnaghe Obono Itam, during a decoration ceremony held at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, described the simultaneous promotion of the serving and immediate past Commissioners of Police as a significant milestone for the command and a recognition of their outstanding leadership, professionalism and dedication to duty.

According to Ikenga, both officers distinguished themselves during their respective tenures in Anambra by strengthening security operations, enhancing collaboration with stakeholders, improving public confidence in policing, and promoting effective law enforcement across the state.

He noted that the promotions reflect the Nigeria Police Force’s recognition of exceptional service and commitment to public safety.

The command congratulated the newly promoted Assistant Inspectors General of Police, expressing confidence that their wealth of experience and leadership would continue to contribute to the growth of the Nigeria Police Force and the effective delivery of security across the country.

The Anambra State Police Command also wished both senior officers continued success, good health and greater accomplishments in their new responsibilities.
