Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has sworn in a new Statistician – General, Mr. Uduak Effiong Isaac, with a mandate to ensure proper management and coordination of the state’s statistical data for general development.

The inauguration formed the first part of the State Executive Council meeting held Monday, July 27, 2026 at the State Executive Council Chambers, Government House Uyo.

He expressed satisfaction with the identification of Mr Isaac, saying he had desired to have a competent statistician who would not only generate statistical reports, but also defend the numbers.

The Governor noted that the development effort of government, through the ARISE Agenda, must be statistically captured, stressing that the new Statistician – General must avail him a monthly statistical report on the state of the State.

Governor Eno said while serving as the Statistician – General, he is also expected to manage his previous office as the Permanent Secretary, Human Capital Development.

He recalled that the efforts of Isaac in chronicling the efforts of government in Human capital development, led to the visit of Vice President Kashim Shettima in 2025 to launch the second phase of the federal government’s National Human Capital Development programme (HCD), where Akwa Ibom was ranked as number one.

The Governor said the appointment of Mr. Isaac was premised on his competent track record, and expressed confidence that he will deliver on his new mandate.

He therefore, urged all Ministries, Departments and Agencies to give him maximum cooperation, to enable him deliver on his mandate.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after his inauguration, Mr Isaac expressed appreciation to Governor Eno for the confidence reposed in him, assuring that he will discharge his responsibilities with diligence, professionalism and integrity.

He pledged to work closely with relevant stakeholders to produce credible and reliable data that will accurately reflect the current realities and development of Akwa Ibom State.
