Tension erupted in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, after a confrontation broke out between youths and individuals believed to be operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) during an operation in the area.
In a video circulating online, some of the youths are heard accusing the masked operatives of carrying out an ill£gâl raid, with one voice saying, “Una dey krase? Mona shoot na. Una dey cover face dey do ill£gâl raiding.”
As the confrontation int£nsified, another clip appears to show some youths throwing stones in the direction of the operatives, while multiple gunshots can be heard in the background. The youths are then seen running for safety.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, and it has not been independently verified what led to the exchange or whether anyone was injured.
The videos have since sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians calling for a thorough investigation into the incident and urging all parties to exercise restraint during security operations.
