The Nigeria Police Force has arrested a man following a disturbing incident in which he allegedly threw his two children from a three-storey building in Umuobe, near Barracks Junction, along Opobo Road in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday, threw residents of the area into panic as the suspect was later found lying unconscious with a head injury in front of the building.
Eyewitnesses said the man allegedly threw his two children from the upper floor of the building and attempted to push his wife before he reportedly fell from the building.
The two children were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Reports indicate that both children survived the incident, although their medical condition had yet to be officially disclosed at the time of filing this report.
Residents who witnessed the incident alerted security agencies, prompting a swift response from operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, who arrived at the scene to restore order and commence investigations.
The suspect, who reportedly resisted arrest, was eventually taken into police custody for further investigation.
The Abia State Police Command is yet to issue an official statement on the incident as investigations continue to determine the circumstances surrounding the case.
