Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged young Nigerians to embrace contentment, hard work and patience, warning them against becoming desperate or complacent with little achievements.
She gave the advice on Friday while receiving the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Youth Wing at the State House in Abuja, where she also donated nine brand-new buses to support the youth wing’s activities.
According to a statement by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady encouraged young people to uphold diligence, integrity and resilience as the foundation for lasting success.
“God always know our needs and that is what the young people do not know, they are always in a hurry,” she said.
She added, “And I am teaching you how to learn contentment and not be beggarly.”
Using the eagle as an example, Senator Tinubu urged the youths to develop courage and determination in the face of challenges rather than envy the success of others.
“You have to have the Eagles mentality. When the Eagle see the storm, he laughs at it and sees how he can fly above it. That is what you should all do. You should always look for your own path and not because that person has it, I want it,” she said.
She also commended the APC youth leadership for working together to strengthen the party, particularly at the grassroots, and urged them to remain committed to promoting the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
She said, “As one of the arms of the ruling party, with a mandate to carry the banner of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration, its members and leaders must show resilience and deep commitment to a tomorrow built on hope.”
To boost the youth wing’s operations ahead of future engagements, the First Lady presented nine buses to the APC National Youth Leader, Deputy National Youth Leader, zonal leaders and the Federal Capital Territory leadership.
Reacting to the donation, APC National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel, expressed appreciation, describing the gesture as a major boost to the youth wing’s mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We are committed to the Renewed Hope Agender, what you have done today is to enhance our capacity to be able to reach out not just for electoral mobilisation but to be able to improve the lives of Nigerians,” Israel said.
He added, “From this moment, we are now mummy’s men for Asiwaju and we are going to set structure to run campaign in the 36-states of the federation.”
Expressing gratitude, he further said, “You have raised boys to men, we came here, many of us without vehicles but we are leaving with brand new buses. We are very grateful ma.”
