The Department of State Services (DSS), in collaboration with other security agencies, has recorded a major breakthrough in ongoing counter-insurgency operations in Imo State with the neutralisation of two suspected commanders of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) and the destruction of several militant camps.
Security sources said the intelligence-led operations, carried out over the past month, targeted camps allegedly linked to suspected militant leaders identified as Ifeanyi Okorienta-Eze, popularly known as “Gentle de Yahoo,” and Monday Oluchi Ogu, alias “B44.”
According to the sources, two suspected ESN commanders, Solomon Akarachukwu Alisiobi, also known as “Maddox,” and Chima Azubuogu, popularly called “Akajiofor,” were killed during the coordinated raids.
The operations reportedly involved the DSS and other security agencies, with the DSS providing intelligence support and coordinating the joint offensive.
Security officials said the sustained operations have disrupted the group’s operational structure, weakened its capacity to carry out coordinated attacks and led to the destruction of several camps in the state.
The sources also noted that the intelligence-driven operations have contributed to improved security and relative calm in parts of Imo State in recent weeks.
The latest operation forms part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to combat violent crime, dismantle armed groups and restore lasting peace across the South-East region.
